CompUSA Chooses PayPal to Handle E-commerce Transactions

By Anil Sharma

CompUSA, a subsidiary of Systemax, has selected PayPal to handle its e-commerce transactions. Systemax now accepts PayPal in North America at TigerDirect.com, TigerDirect.ca and now at CompUSA.

"PayPal has been a strategic partner to our eCommerce operations," Gilbert Fiorentino, president of Systemax's technology products segment, in a statement. "Consistently delivering new customers to our websites is a key benefit of PayPal. The addition of PayPal to the CompUSA website is a logical extension to our shopping cart."

CompUSA sells computers, electronics and accessories for consumer, business, government and educational customers through CompUSA.com, CompUSABusiness.com and CompUSAGovEd.com Web sites.

“We are excited to add CompUSA to the growing list of leading online retailers accepting PayPal,” said Dana Stalder, general manager of merchant services and marketing at PayPal, in a statement. “With CompUSA, PayPal customers have even more choice when shopping for great deals on computers, electronics and more.”

PayPal allows anyone to make and receive payments without sharing financial information and gives consumers the flexibility to pay in any way they prefer, including through credit cards, bank accounts or account balances. With more than 141 million accounts in 190 markets and 17 currencies around the world, PayPal enables global ecommerce. PayPal is an eBay (News - Alert) company.

To woo customers and to help celebrate the launch of PayPal on the Web site, CompUSA is running a promotion that gives $20 cash-back to shoppers who use PayPal as their payment method on purchases exceeding $200.

"This is an incredible opportunity for PayPal customers to experience the All-New CompUSA.com," said Lonny Paul, Director of eCommerce for CompUSA, in a statement. "Our Web site has a much larger selection than before, expansive product information, photos, video demonstrations and even manuals. Plus, we ship 95 percent of our orders the same day, with most reaching their destination in 2-3 days. There are lots of new things going on at the All-New CompUSA - and PayPal customers get a bonus for trying it out!"
